Apart from funding of the universities, Stockholm Brain Institute has been appointed a Strategic Research Centre by Swedish Foundation of Strategic Research (SSF) and a Berzelii Centre by VR/VINNOVA (Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems).

The Board The three universities, the major public and industrial partners are represented on the board. The task is to oversee that the intention of SSF and VR/VINNOVA are met and that the centre is managed appropriately and make expected progress. The board takes active part in activities organized by SBI and in the communication of SBI. See below.

The Executive Group The scientific leadership of SBI is governed by the executive group, which is constituted by the 11 Principle Investigators. All strategic decisions regarding research and budget are taken in consensus or after vote by the executive group. The director is formally responsible for the decisions. The director and the scientific coordinator implement the decisions. See below.
